Plant Installations
Here at PIMS we are used to working with large plant in existing energy centres and boiler houses. We have experience of the removal of large boilers and their associated equipment to installing new equipment into tight existing spaces too. We have the experience you need for even the most unique requirements.
Our management program encourages progress from site personal to project management. This enables our managers to fully understand all aspects of these type of schemes so they can be completed to the highest of standards.
Energy Centres
A typical scheme our experienced team here at PIMS would undertake would involve the staged removal / replacement of Boilers and plant (e.g. 10 tonne steam boilers / Hotwells / Pumps / PHEs). It would also include all related civil work, silencers. Our schemes will also include all the associated equipment for the installation of a 3.3MW combined heat & power engine and enclosure.
We will deal with all interconnecting steam, condensate, gas, oil, flues, and hot water piped services. The professionals here at PIMS will also manage the installation of all HV / LV electrical services and the Scada control system installation.
A recent project at NHS Ninewells was used as the front cover BG01 The Guidance on Safe Operation of Steam Boilers. This was a true accolade to our site installation team along with the skills and experienced we have available for your next project.
Pump sets & Packaged Plant
Prefabrication is key on all projects. It enables plant to be built off site in a safer more structured manor. This means items can be fully fitted, tested, commissioned and ready for when the program calls for them.
The PIMS specialists recently delivered a 7.5M Steam header including triple offset valves and support frame. This was all assembled then pressure and x-ray tested for NHS Tayside Energy Centre.
The deliverables of our projects include:- Pump sets, De Aerators, Metering stations and Pipework Headers.
Industrial Food Manufacturing Plant
Our experienced team here at PIMS have dismantled and re-sited complete plants. One example is a frozen potato product manufacturer’s factory machinery and plant (total weight 300 tonnes) from an existing factory site to a newly built factory 200 metres away. In this case, the existing factory site was closed, the work force sent home for the duration of the works and control handed over to us.
During this project typical plant lifts exceeded 40 tonnes for pieces of equipment in excess of 20 metres in length. Pipework was installed for process water, steam, gas and air service lines exceeded 2.5km in length. Over 230 motors and pumps were installed, together with over 25km of on-site cabling. The typical numbers of employees on site exceeded 100, working 24/7. Works included moving the equipment across a railway and road, with extensive negotiation with local authorities required. This project also included the mechanical & electrical installation of a 50,000 kg/hr, 22 bar steam raising facility (32MW).
