Fabrication
Here at PIMS we have a dedicated workshop and numerous fabrication areas. We have a 1300m2 General Fabrication zone for large platforms and tanks. We also have 2 dedicated bays for Stainless Steel. Finally, we have 2 devoted to Carbon Steel plus a spare bay to be used as required.
Our Managing Director originated from welding background, so PIMS pride ourselves on our welders and the procedures we maintain. Our procedures and workmanship skills are approved by Zurich. We utilise a wide range of welding techniques including Flux cored arc welding, Tungsten Inert Gas and Metal Inert Gas welding.
All our professional welders and experienced operatives are coded. They have their own training matrix. This ensures they are always up to date on the latest changes, technologies and tools to provide our clients with the best possible workmanship.
Steelwork Fabrication
Whatever requirements your project has, we can help. From an access ladder and platform to a Steam Boiler Site Glass or even a full steel floor to locate and access Dry Air Coolers – we have the skills, tools, experience and means.
Our specialists carry out our own detailed structural calculations. From these, we produce tailored steelwork drawings detailing cut lengths and plate requirements for fabrication. For example, we recently manufactured 44Mx11M galvanised access platform for John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford that was delivered and installed on a 9-storey operational building.
Plate Heat Exchanger Skids
Many of our energy projects we undertake use low or medium temperature hot water plate heat exchangers in localised plantrooms for heat generation.
We manufacture the pipework skids that connect to these plates in house to provide a packaged skid mounted unit. These include sensors, valves, meters, pumps, and gauges all mounted together on a dedicated frame. The electrical wiring and Scada control panel is also included.
We also pre-commission the units in our workshop. This enables them to arrive on site ready to just connect and switch on.
Hotwell Tanks
Many of our Steam projects require Hotwell tanks. These tanks collect hot condensate water to be recirculated to the feed the boilers with water. They can range in size from 5000 to 25000 litres and are fabricated in mild steel.
We have a specific way we design these with stiffening channels to make them extremely robust. These tanks are all CE-marked and leak tested with declaration of conformity.
