DESIGN
Here at PIMS we develop a process design based upon an independent assessment of the optimum solution. This assessment will include everything from equipment recommendation right through to supply.
Our specialists work includes preparation of detailed drawings, pipeline sizing and routing, general layouts, electrical distribution and Scada control.
PIMS utilise Autodesk accredited training and software. Our professional and experienced employees operate to our own accepted CAD standards and approval procedure.
Concept
From an initial brief or a request to attend site, we will derive an engineering concept for our client. This will look at the design element of a project / installation as well as the safety, timeframe, and end operation. We will also look at its sustainability.
A project design is generally depicted as a P&ID. This is a schematic that details the process in simple form. It will clearly show the plant, pipework the connections and principles.
These drawings will then be used to discuss and agree the system design with all stakeholders. Our drawings will help to provide a clear focus to progress to the detailed design stage.
Detailed Design
With the concept agreed, our specialists at PIMS will aim to provide a spatially coordinated design. This detail is generated using 3D software. This will enable the team to view and walk through the design. At this point it is easy to optioneer to get the best installation and maintainable layout.
From this 3D model we will be able to detect any clashes before fabrication and site installation. This detailed design will be presented to the client. This will allow our clients to see exactly what the scheme looks like and feels like.
The 3D model is created as a live document. This allows for agreed changes to be incorporated and fed into the project program and cost plan.
All design calculations are carried out in house. These design calculations will include Thermal Expansion, Pressure loss for Gas and LTHW pipework, explosion relief and safety valve discharge plus ventilation, and such like.
Technical Design
When the detail is completed, the 3D model will be used to produce working drawings. These are dimensioned to enable our experienced workshop team to build prefabricated plant packages. They will also be used by our professional site teams to ensure correct installation.
The 3D model enables us to generate any section / plan or elevation of the 3D designs. In addition to creating drawings the model also generates material lists. This enables our purchasing department to order the correct materials, therefore ensuring that they are delivered at the correct time for each installation.
The construction drawing process is tracked throughout the entirety of the project. Any changes to these drawings will be noted and updated at the end to produce installation details for the client.
