From having carried out a successful CEF Energy Centre project the OUH Trust engaged VITAL Energi and PIMS to revitalise their critical CHW systems.

Removal of Existing Equipment

Decommission and remove No.1 MTHW absorption chiller.

Decommission and remove No.3 MTHW absorption chiller.

Removal and replacement of all main chilled water pumps.

Design, Installation, Connection and Commissioning

All Civil works associated with the project.

All interfaces with Chiller plant connections.

Installation of 2 No. Absorption with new MTHW system & 1 No. Electric Chiller with associated plate heat exchangers & pumps.

7 No. Adiabatic Coolers complete with all piped services from roof to ground floor plantrooms.

44 x 11 metre roof top steel structure for the above

Installation of new duplex water softener plant with a capacity of 24m³/hr.

Installation of 8 No. meters and chiller control system.

Electrical, Controls and metering equipment.

LV cabling & Switchgear modifications.

Strategic Elements

Maintaining various crucial operational areas whilst changing over systems

Coordinating with the Hospital to allow large crane lifts.

Removal and re instating Chillers and pipework in extremely tight and cramped plantrooms.

Successes

Off-site fabrication of all steel work and Adiabatic Cooler headers.

Carrying out one of the largest and longest Crane lifts in PIMS history.

Plantrooms left with improved access for maintenance and operation , all completed ahead of program
