A challenging yet great project for PIMS in Scotland, which included a large amount of prefabricated plant and steelwork. BG01 publication “Guidance on safe operation of steam boiler houses” used a picture of the completed project as their front cover.

Enabling Works

Steam Shutdowns to enable future Energy Centre connections.

Installing and proving a temporary steam boiler and services.

Decommission and removal of existing Gas Turbine and Waste Heat Boiler Plant.

Design, Installation, Connection and Commissioning

Prefabricated & Installation of 2 No. 15,000L Hotwells & platform incorporating pumpsets & Pressurisation units / vessels.

New 11 Tonne Steam Boiler and associated services.

New 9 Tonne Combination Boiler and associated services.

Chimney & interconnecting flues.

LV panel, related electrical cabling and SCADA system.

Integration with 4.0 MW CHP complete with ancillary equipment including dry air coolers.

Installation, connection & commissioning of new plate heat exchangers in 5 plantrooms and the LTHW piped services to each.

All civil engineering works.

Strategic Elements

Energy centre sited on a first floor, new boilers needed special steel support design.

Services crossing a busy access road to connect to a CHP Enclosure which was located away from the Energy Centre.
