We are pleased to confirm that even with the break of Christmas, a lot has happened since our last project update in November. We have excellent news regarding quality, progress in the workshop and future business secured for the year ahead too.
Our team are still continuing work on site at Coventry and at Imperial College. Meanwhile, our design team are busy working on three really innovative projects for VITAL Energi.
HSQE Department
We are thrilled to announce that all the hard work that our Health, Safety, Quality and Environment department have done, has paid off. They have invested a lot of effort and hard work over the last 6 months and for good reason too. PIMS have been approved by Alcumus ISOQAR for the requirements of ISO 140001: 2015 and ISO 9901: 2015.
It was our first endeavour in which we have gained these ISO certifications. Each department within PIMS is now operating with these new procedures in place.

University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust
We began work on the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust project a year ago. The project is now reaching completion. Our teams of engineers are currently installing mesh screens around the new CHP flue.
The design for this project was very complex. It needed to tie in with the existing framework and work was to be completed at height on a very complex structure. However, our professional team overcame all challenges on this project.
The pipework services are on site. This project is now in the commissioning phase and all the pumps, control valves and being powered up.

Imperial College, London
The Imperial College London project is progressing extremely well on site. All underground heating mains have now been installed. The work is almost complete on re-assembling the prefabricated boiler compound.
Once this final element is finished, the existing plantroom connections can be work on. The new Plate Heat Exchangers will also be installed at this point.
This project and subsequent works have all been executed in a high-profile area within the campus of The Imperial College in London. At all times we have worked to PIMS covid-19 assessments and quality plans for the safety of our team, clients and the general public.
New Projects
Northwick Park Hospital
We have taken on a project at Northwick Park Hospital. It is a new Carbon Energy Fund project. We will soon be establishing a site with our construction compound so works can begin on-site. The Northwick Park Hospital project involves a new Energy Centre. This is to be housed within a new multi-story car park. This Energy Centre will consist of a new hot water boiler plant, CHP and associated services, along with a new chimney.
The energy created from the new Energy Centre will be distributed around the hospital. This will be done through over 1km of stainless-steel pipework to plant rooms with new Plate Heat Exchangers. All of this is to be installed by the professional engineers at PIMS over the next 18 months. Keep checking our latest blog posts for updates on this project.
The Christie Hospital
The Christie Hospital is based in Manchester. It is well known as a leading expert in cancer care. The Christie Hospital is also one of the NHS trusts must vital hospitals. We are pleased to have been chosen to work on this project.
For the Christie Hospital project, we will be transforming and upgrading their existing Energy Centre. This will include the installation of new steam generation, Hotwell, LTHW Pumpsets and CHP to serve local plantrooms across this hospital in Manchester.
Nottingham City Hospital
We have also taken on a project at Nottingham City Hospital. This project has a crucial timeline to reduce the carbon footprint of the hospital.
The expert engineers here at PIMS have already played a substantial part in the build up to securing this order. We have been working alongside VITAL Energi on highlighting demolition requirements and site wide constraints. Together, we have looked at how these will be managed as well as the planning and images to indicate how the new Energy Centre will look.
Workshop
We are excited to announce that we welcomed David Dodd to our team here at PIMS as our new Workshop Manager. David will be undertaking all operations and management in our large workshop area.
David has come from a nationwide food manufacturing company. He was their Reliability and Compliance Manager.
We Know that a lot of our work this year will be prefabricated projects, so David will be a huge asset to the company.
David is already proving to play a key role within the company, in the short time he has been with us.
