As you may have noticed from our lack of updates on the website, we have had a really busy few months. Work on all projects has continued to an excellent standard and at a strong pace too. In this blog post we would like to share with you an update of our Autumn 2021 projects and how we have continued on the projects we spoke about in previous blogs and updates.
Plate Heat Exchanger Skids
Our dedicated and highly skilled workshop operatives have fabricated over 50 plate heat exchanger skids in our workshop and there are still some more to be made. The fabrication team have been working extremely hard and the outcome, as controlled by our Quality Packs has been seamless.
Steam Header
Not only have our incredible workshop operatives completed the plate heat exchanger skids to a high level, but the workshop has also undertaken 3 large steam headers for Nottingham City Hospital and The Christie Hospital in Manchester.
As you can see, our workers take great pride in the work they do. This is one of our fabricators and welders. He has been working on this 6-metre steam header for one of the hospitals.
Nottingham City Hospital
Our job at Nottingham City Hospital was to modify & install steam & low temperature hot water distribution site wide across the hospital. This is nearly all complete and we are now starting to work in the dispersed plantrooms. This is where we will be connecting them to this new system.
The new Energy Centre construction we mentioned in previous blogs is progressing well. This installation has enabled us to start to install the large plant items throughout Nottingham City Hospital.
Our team have also installed The Hotwell Platform and the tanks have now been installed too. The three steam boilers have been contract lifted and positioned. Each of these boilers has an output of 11 tonnes. The next phase of this part of the project will involve the flue frames being erected.
Northwick Park Hospital
Just as our site team have been doing at Nottingham City Hospital, we have been completing similar installations at Northwick Park Hospital. Our experienced site team at Northwick Park Hospital have been installing piped services around the substantial site of the hospital. These pipes run over the top of buildings, in ducts and on agreed façade locations too.
Three Bosch boilers have been positioned in the Energy Centre at Northwick Park Hospital. They have a combined load of 15MW. Other large plant items are also being sited in this Energy Centre too.
In the following image you can see the CHP exhaust ductwork. It has been mounted onto our services steelwork. The Energy Centre installation has been coordinated from the 3d model you can see below. This model clearly includes all pipework, containment and support structure required for this large project.
Basildon & Chelmsford Hospitals
We have been working directly with the NHS trust across the sites for Basildon and Chelmsford Hospitals. Our site teams at these hospitals are providing all the Primary Plate Heat Exchanged skids. They are also providing all the interconnecting piped services across the site for the Primary Plate Heat Exchanged skids. The total amount of pipework that we are installing across Basildon and Chelmsford Hospitals of 304 metric stainless steel is huge. As you can see from the photo below. This is just one of the many deliveries received on site for this project that we have received in the last few months.
The Christie Hospital In Manchester
Work has begun on site at The Christie Hospital in Manchester. As part of this project our qualified onsite team will be installing a new combination steam boiler inside an existing already tight Energy Centre. Along with a Hotwell platform, new access platforms, pumpsets and all the required connections to a new external CHP engine also need to be installed by our team.
Our team are currently working on the existing steam system. They are helping our client with re-routing steam services and entering the detailed design of the energy works centre that can be seen below.
New Projects
Due to the growth in business over the last few months, expansion was required in our team too. We have enjoyed welcoming new employees to improve our office support and design teams for these new and exciting projects. These new team members have included a new document controller, a CAD piping designer, a Technical Manager and some office support team members too. You’ll be able to find out more about our new starters and how they are getting on in upcoming blogs so keep your eyes peeled!
